Mission
Visual Basic Gadgets seeks to provide the public with free, quality software that promotes both fun and learning for the present as well as for years to come.
The VB Gadgets hosting project was launched in March of 2012, but many of the software programs offered by VB Gadgets were designed and created before VB Gadgets' implementation. VB Gadgets will always provide all of its services for free, and the VB Gadgets website will never contain advertisements. |
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: My computer is telling me that the software can't be trusted. Should I be worried?
A: The reason why your computer warns you about these programs is because VB Gadgets doesn't sign software. To do so would cost money, and that would force VB Gadgets to charge for its products. All VB Gadgets software is virus free, but if that's not good enough for you, you're welcome to run virus scans on everything you download!
Update: softpedia.com has tested most of VB Gadgets' software, and has graciously provided us with the 100% Clean Award. Links to those awards are provided at the bottom of each project page.
Q: Why is everything on here offered for free?
A: Those responsible for the creation of VB Gadgets receive no income for working towards the VB Gadgets projects. VB Gadgets wishes that quality software would be available for everyone, free of cost, and that those interested in learning about the creative process of writing code and developing software would have yet another free resource toward which to turn.
Q: I have a Mac. Can I get versions of these programs that work with my computer?
A: Sorry, only Windows is capable of running these applications. You could run Windows in a virtual machine or on a separate partition if you're desperate, but beyond that, you're out of luck.
Q: How do I know there are no viruses in these programs?
A: Don't take our word for it; find out for yourself! There are loads of excellent free antivirus scanners available to you online. For example, AVG provides excellent free service for non-commercial users, and can scan individual files or folders for malicious software. Feel free to scrutinize everything you download.
Q: Have I seen videos of some of these programs on YouTube?
A: You might have! Some of these programs were demonstrated on YouTube before this website was launched.
Q: I've got an idea for a program. Could I tell you about it?
A: Of course! Although VB Gadgets provides no guarantees about what sort of software will be developed next, your feedback is always appreciated.
Q: I want to help you develop some code. May I join your efforts?
A: VB Gadgets does not actively seek help, but if you really want to provide assistance, leave a way for VB Gadgets to contact you in the feedback section.
Q: I'd like to financially donate to this project. How can I do that?
A: Click the link at the bottom of the VBGadgets home page. This will let you leave a tip as a way of saying thank you!
Q: What is weebly.com?
A: Weebly is an excellent place to build websites. VB Gadgets highly recommends you check it out!
Q: When I look at some of the info for certain programs I've downloaded, it says Vande Burgt Productions. What's up with that?
A: Vande Burgt Productions is an old name that has been changed to VB Gadgets.
Q: Where did all the artwork on this website come from?
A: All the images on VB Gadgets' website are original artwork created in Gimp, an open source image editing program.
